You can treat the symptoms, but

You can treat the symptoms, but unless you address the root cause those symptoms will continue to flare up.

Quick, easy solutions do two things:

(1) They provide the critics of the self-esteem movement with more ammunition. They can point to countless people who might have felt good after trying some quick fix solution, only to crash in a heap when the going gets tough. And the critics say ” See, higher self-esteem doesn’t work”

(2) It immunizes people against the concept of self-esteem. When you immunize someone you injecting a very small dose of whatever you are looking to protect them from so their immune system develops anti-bodies to fight the disease. So, with self-esteem, someone who tries some of the quick, easy solutions and finds they only work for a while will eventually become disinclined to ever try it again.

True Self Esteem is not about quick, easy solutions.

Its about starting on a journey of self discovery and development that is life long.

It’s about becoming more and more open to the vast range of opportunities that are
there just waiting to be taken up.

It’s about becoming comfortable enough with who you are that life becomes an enjoyable journey.

It’s about learning to make the most appropriate choices for you.

It’s about living life the way it was meant to be lived.

It’s about being free to make a worthwhile contribution to the betterment of this world in which we live.

And you can start on that sort of journey today.
