Silver Fern Farms is prepared to invest $60 million in an integrated red meat chain proposal.
Chief executive Keith Cooper said it aimed to bring together a group of industry participants – in partnership with the Government – with the goal to improve farmer returns.
The market-led strategy would be underpinned by new science, research and technology.
Mr Cooper said it would position New Zealand as a leader in the supply of meat products into high-value specialty niche segments
